Apply for Funding – Nature Resilience Fund 2023

26 May, 2022

The Cairngorms Trust Nature Resilience Fund has been established by the Cairngorms Trust to support the building of nature resilience to climate change and tackling biodiversity decline within the Cairngorms National Park.

To achieve this the Fund wishes to support Cairngorms communities and the businesses based in those communities, in taking locally led action to address:

  • Enhance and/or increase the connectivity and quality of freshwater habitats through projects such as: riparian tree planting,
  • Support habitat connectivity including tree planting and creating corridors for nature,
  • Support and protect land based and freshwater plant and animal species, especially those which are threatened, through conservation initiatives, species re-introduction, and creating steppingstones for nature,
  • Education and awareness on the issues that are threatening our land based and freshwater habitats and the things people can do to help address these, including, for example, interpretation, demonstration, knowledge building, monitoring and practical action,
  • Increase the area of pollinator friendly habitat such as creating wildflower meadows, flower rich road verges, community pollinator projects for example,
  • Increase the area of native trees and or length of native hedging planted in the Cairngorms

The Fund is interested in building nature resilience to climate change and action to reverse biodiversity decline in the Cairngorms National Park. We want successful applicants to concentrate on projects that promote capacity building and up-skilling of communities, instilling the skills needed to manage project outputs and realise benefits beyond the end of the project.

We anticipate that the majority of the projects will be looking for funding in the £5,000 – £15,000 range, but will also look to fund a number of smaller community projects that may apply up to and around £1000.
