A small charity passionate about making a big difference
At the Cairngorms Trust, we’re passionate about making a difference. We are a small independent charity on a mission to promote sustainable and community-led development throughout the local area for the benefit of the people who live here and the visitors who come to enjoy all that the Cairngorms National Park has to offer.
As a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), we want to ensure access to funding and support for local projects and we are committed to working with individuals, organisations, businesses and communities within our region to achieve this.

What We Do
Provide grants for community-led projects across the Cairngorms
The Cairngorms Trust proudly look after the communities, landscapes and wildlife within the Cairngorms National Park. We know that our area is a living, breathing thing – and we want to see it thrive!
That’s why we provide grants and support for a wide range of community-led projects across the Cairngorms which help safeguard our environment for future generations – investing in initiatives which inspire and support economic development, social enterprise and community projects.

At the Cairngorms Trust, your generous support enables us to undertake a wide range of projects within our 5 main strands that contribute to the preservation and enhancement of the Cairngorms National Park.
Path Maintenance
Donations towards path maintenance initiatives ensure that the park's extensive network of trails remains accessible, safe, and well-preserved. This enables visitors to explore the stunning landscapes while minimising their impact on the delicate ecosystems.
Nature Restoration
Our nature restoration projects focus on rejuvenating habitats, restoring native species, and protecting biodiversity. Your contributions help create healthier ecosystems, enhancing the park's resilience and supporting the flora and fauna that make the Cairngorms such an ecologically rich area.
Communities
By supporting community-focused initiatives, your donations directly empower local residents and businesses. We collaborate with communities to develop sustainable livelihoods, enhance cultural heritage, and foster a sense of pride and ownership in the park.
Young People
Investing in the next generation is key to securing the future of the Cairngorms. Your support enables us to provide educational programs, outdoor activities, and skill-building opportunities for young people, fostering their love for nature and nurturing the park's future custodians.
E-bike Project
Our Active Cairngorms E-bike project (ACE) helps promote sustainable transportation options in the area. By facilitating the use of electric bikes, we reduce carbon emissions, encourage active lifestyles, provide a cost-effective transport alternative for commuters and enable more people to explore the Cairngorms while minimising their ecological footprint.

For every booking we get, we take a £1 levy which we give to the Trust to invest specifically in local access projects such as the great work done recently on the trail network around Kingussie.”
