The Cairngorms Trust Nature Resilience Fund
Supporting the Cairngorm’s
Natural Ecosystems
with £38k of funding distributed over 8 projects…
The Cairngorms Trust Nature Resilience Fund has awarded £37,900 in funding to 8 projects across the Cairngorms National Park to tackle biodiversity decline and support the building of nature’s resilience to climate change.
The fund focuses on projects that aim to protect and restore habitats, conserve wildlife, and promote ecological sustainability in the region. It provides financial resources to individuals, community groups, and organisations that have initiatives aligned with the conservation objectives of the Cairngorms Trust.
The fund has been split into 2 parts…
1
Projects up to £10,000
4 projects have been awarded under the main funding grant:
- RSPB – Wetlands at Ballinlaggan
- Bee Conservation Trust – Skills for Bees Scotland
- Creg Ny Baa Croft – Creg Ny Baa Nature Restoration
- Dee District Salmon Fishery Board – Glen Clunie Riparian Tree Planting
These projects have been allocated from the main fund and funding was granted as they will concentrate on building nature’s resilience to climate change and reversing biodiversity decline in the Cairngorms National Park.
2
Projects up to £750
The second fund of up to £750 has been allocated to Community Pollinator projects to concentrate on materials and equipment for wildflower meadows, verge creation and maintaining wildflower areas.
These projects are:
- Roots & Shoots Highland CIC – Wildflower Mini Meadows in Kingussie
- Creg Ny Baa Croft – Creg Ny Baa Meadow Enhancement
- Grantown Initiative – Dulaig Park Renovation
- Speyside Fields for Wildlife – Meadow Enhancement
The funding aims to ensure that the outcomes of the projects protect and replenish our natural and social capital. These projects contribute to the conservation and enhancement of nature-helping habitats and species in need, mitigating the effects of climate change.
There is also an element in each project that looks at the relationships among people who live and work in the Cairngorms by working in partnership and contributing to strengthening our communities and businesses through community capacity building.
“One of the key aims of funding projects throughout the Cairngorms is to support those that may not receive funding through other existing funds.”
The diverse range of projects supported by the Cairngorms Trust Nature Resilience Fund show the range of conservation and enhancement across the area and involves all ages of our community from primary age children upwards.”
