24 May, 2023

Celebration event

On Wednesday 17th May the Cairngorms Trust Hosted their first celebration event in Boat of Garten with recipients of funding and supporters of the Trust.

The event was held at the Boat of Garten community centre, one of the Trusts past recipients of funding with over 45 attendees from across the Cairngorms National Park.

With projects presenting form the four key themes that the trust supports: nature, infrastructure, community led local development, youth, Active Cairngorms ebike project and a general funding update from the Cairngorms Trust Manager, Nancy Chambers.

‘I spent the afternoon thinking what an amazing community we have here in the Cairngorms as projects were celebrated and information shared.  It will be wonderful to see the continuation and development of some of these projects and new ones as we open up our new funds for 2023 – 24.’

Some of the attendees commented:

It was great to hear about all the various projects and meet some of the individuals involved – quite inspiring.

‘It was very inspiring to hear about the breadth and depth of projects you have supported and great to network in person again (and to see the bottom half of so many people that I’ve previously only met via Zoom!).’

Roger Clegg, Chair of the Cairngorms Trust commented, ‘The event was a celebration of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by all the presenters and gave a real insight into the range of community development, nature and wildlife work which is happening in the Park. I am delighted that the Cairngorm Trust is playing a part in supporting all this activity which is contributing to making the Park such a great place to live.’

The next round of funding will be the Nature Resilience Fund and the Community Led Vision Fund that both open at the beginning of June and further details will be available on the Cairngorm Trust website.

Over the past year the Trust has distributed through Community Led Vision Fund, Nature Resilience Fund, Youth LAG funds, Campaign Projects and Green Recovery Funds around £330,000 of funds to projects across the whole of the Cairngorms National Park. These have impacted on communities, nature, local culture, economic health and sustainability.  By holding this event it is hoped to inspire others to apply for funding and contribute to the natural and economic health and wealth of the Cairngorms National Park.
