Park for All Successful Applicants
The Cairngorms Trust is thrilled to announce that five projects have been successful in gaining funding totalling £7,300 from the Cairngorms Park For All Fund.
The successful projects are:
- New Young Scots Connecting with the National Park – A project organised by Angus Council Vibrant Communities Resettlement and ESOL Service in Arbroath with New Young Scots volunteering with the Ranger Service in Glen Doll.
- Scottish Highlands & Islands and Moray Chinese Association – Hillwalking and art project days in the Cairngorms.
- Cairngorms Explorers – Strathspey Storywalks will be working with young people from BAME communities who live in Badenoch and Strathspey.
- Naturing New Scots – Aberdeen Asylum and Refugee Care will be bringing young people that they are working with to volunteer at the Highland Wildlife Park near Aviemore and Glen Tanar Estate Ranger Service.
- Martin Moran Foundation – are running a Mountain Adventure Course based at Glenmore Lodge. Our funding is going towards spaces for participants from BAME communities.
The Park for All Fund was significantly oversubscribed with 16 eligible projects applying. Within the applications there were a huge variety of projects that were requesting support to visit the Cairngorms. All projects were scored by the Lived Experience panel we have been working with and recommendations for funding were made following the scoring process.
The Fund is a pioneering initiative designed to increase access to the outdoors for members of BAME communities. This innovative program aims to foster a deeper connection with nature, build community networks, and inspire environmental stewardship within the stunning landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park. The fund will allow members of the groups the opportunity to visit, explore and volunteer in the Cairngorms.
About the Fund
The Cairngorms Park For All Fund was co-created with a Lived Experience panel representing BAME communities, ensuring it addresses real needs and barriers to participation. The fund provides financial support for individuals, groups, and organisations seeking to promote inclusivity, environmental awareness, and well-being through activities in the Cairngorms National Park.
Nancy Chambers, manager of the Cairngorms Trust says ‘Accessing the outdoors can have significant barriers to many people. This fund is a positive step by the Cairngorms Trust towards encouraging members of BAME communities to be able to access the Cairngorms.’
