Cairngorms Trust Launches Campaign Projects Application for 2025

18 Dec, 2024

The Cairngorms Trust is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Campaign Projects Fund, dedicated to supporting sustainable and community-led initiatives within the Cairngorms National Park. With a mission to preserve the park’s breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and vibrant local culture, the Cairngorms Trust invites community organizations and groups to submit project proposals that align with its vision of environmental and social sustainability.

Empowering Communities to Make a Difference
The Cairngorms Trust has a proud history of funding impactful projects that enhance the park’s unique qualities. Previous campaigns have included:

  • The Boat of Garten Wildlife Group, which created a community willow structure, osprey nest, and educational workshops around Milton Loch.
  • The Kingussie Path Network Improvement Project, which supported volunteer programs and path maintenance.
  • The Braemar Society Bridge and Path Maintenance Project, which restored the Society Bridge and improved the surrounding paths.

Seeking the Next Big Project
For 2025, the Trust is looking for an Infrastructure-themed project, such as path maintenance or bridge repair, with a strong emphasis on addressing climate change. Applications should demonstrate a focus on:

  • Supporting community-led development.
  • Conserving nature and wildlife within the Cairngorms.
  • Celebrating the park’s heritage and culture.
  • Enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities.

Projects must adhere to two key principles:

  1. Green: Strengthening the natural and social capital of the Cairngorms.
  2. Cairngorms-Focused: Benefiting the community or landscapes within the Cairngorms National Park.

Funding Details
The Trust aims to raise between £5,000 and £8,000 for the selected project, with fundraising efforts to be completed collaboratively within 6–12 months. Successful applicants will be required to actively participate in fundraising, including hosting at least one community event.

Nancy Chambers, Cairngorms Trust manager said ‘The Cairngorms Trust has really enjoyed working with our previous recipients of the Campaign fund and are excited to be looking for a new project to work alongside to raise funds to maintain their infrastructure project’
